Gargantuan. They make your standard 4x4s look like ants. Imposing. They have so much raw power, they roll over jagged terrain without a hitch. Inspiring. Their drivers, among the best in the world, have to control these beasts without flipping over as they compete against other monsters like themselves.
These creatures look like the vehicle form of those robots, the Transformers – almost too larger than life to be believed.
For decades, we haven’t had the pleasure of spectating one of these events. It’s a wonder, because we have a dedicated ready-made audience for it. This is the kind of entertainment that adrenaline-filled South Africans live for.
Now, in 2019, Monster Trucks are finally coming to South Africa for two all-out special shows.
Weighing in at five tons, standing up to four metres high, watching these behemoths defy gravity on the custom-made tracks is going to be an unbelievably thrilling event – but best of all, it’s family friendly.
The trucks may get a bit damaged, but the professional drivers never get hurt. It’s a spectacle that everyone can enjoy. Often, the action is so intense, the large capacity crowd leap to their feet in disbelief.
Perhaps what makes this such a unique sport is that it is the only one where men and women compete equally, both featuring world-class drivers. It also features drivers of different generations competing against each other. Imagine that in any other sport (actually there was Mayweather vs. MacGregor, and the old guy gave the younger one a drubbing – Generation X vs. Millennial: take that, Millennial!).
There will be an amazing line-up of trucks, including six of the most famous, like Max DTM and Grave Digger®.
Just remember: don’t treat your own 4×4 truck like these guys do theirs… it’ll affect the resell value when you finally come to us. We’d rather give you a Monster Truck sized payment for it.
